Location: Lakeland / Polk County, FL area (full time onsite)
Industry: Heavy Civil / Highway / Bridge / Infrastructure Construction
An established heavy civil contractor is hiring an Assistant Project Manager for a large multiyear highway program in the Lakeland and Polk County area. This is a strong next step for a Project Engineer ready to move up, or an APM who wants a big job with a long runway and a stable employer. You'll work alongside the project manager on planning, subcontracts and contract administration so the job stays on budget and on schedule, much of it state highway work. Central Florida locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.

Support the project manager on cost, schedule and resource planning
Administer subcontracts and purchase orders, and coordinate subs and suppliers
Manage submittals, RFIs and change order paperwork with the owner
Track quantities, pay items and monthly pay estimates
Coordinate crews, material and equipment with the superintendents
Keep permits, licenses and project documentation current
Help update the schedule and the cost forecast
Back the field on safety and quality
Report progress to the project manager and the owner

3+ years on heavy civil highway or bridge projects as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or APM
Four year degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or Civil Engineering
Solid with submittals, RFIs, quantities and pay estimates
FDOT or Turnpike experience is a plus
Clear writer and communicator under schedule pressure
Primavera P6, HCSS or Bluebeam is a plus
Based in Central Florida or ready to relocate to the Lakeland area
Why This Role Is Worth a Conversation
Full time role with an established heavy civil builder, not a one project hire
Full benefits package
A large multiyear program with a long runway of work
A clear path from APM to Project Manager
Heavy civil work on the kind of projects that build a career.
