Software engineering careers

Software engineers build and maintain applications, platforms, data systems, embedded products and cloud infrastructure. Career paths may emphasize front-end, back-end, full-stack, mobile, data, DevOps, security, architecture or technical leadership.

Employers evaluate programming depth, system-design judgment, testing practices, collaboration and the ability to deliver reliable software. Relevant languages and platforms matter, but evidence of solving complex problems and improving products is equally important.

Effective résumés describe the systems built, scale supported, reliability improved, delivery accelerated and business outcomes achieved. Explain your individual contribution within team projects and identify the technologies used without turning the résumé into a keyword list.

Before accepting a role, understand the product, users, technical debt, release process, on-call expectations, team stability, decision-making culture and how engineering quality is balanced with delivery speed.
